Description of Program: Coolidge Unified School District #21's (CUSD) Tutor/Mentor Program trains and matches volunteer adults with high risk youth grades 4-12 from the District's Alternative to Suspension program. Students desiring academic support are matched with tutors upon re-entry to their regular school campus. Tutors meet with students on campus, during school hours, one to two times per week for 30-40 minutes. Tutors are asked to stay with their mentees for at least one 9-week marking period. Regular trainings and support meetings for tutors/mentors are conducted by CUSD's Academic Coaches, specifically in reading and math strategies.

Description of Program: This program pairs high school students that have exceptional leadership abilities with elementary students who are at risk academically. We take two trips a year, for three days each, in the White Mountains and a trip to Castles & Coasters in Phoenix. To qualify for these trips students must have high attendance and participation in the program.

Description of Program: In the Clubhouse, youth (ages 6-18) express themselves through projects based on their own interests, creating computer-generated art and music, designing their own animations, writing and illustrating interactive poetry, building kinetic sculptures and robotic constructions, and designing their own Web pages. Adult mentors serve as role models and support the young people's self-directed explorations. In the process youth become excited about learning and fluent with new technologies, enabling them to develop skills useful in their future careers and, more generally, their lives.
