All Star Kids Tutoring Year Established: 1996 Location: Public Schools, Religious Organizations, Libraries Duration of Program: September-May Description of Program: All Star Kids Tutoring is a one-on-one volunteer tutoring program that helps elementary school-aged children master basic reading skills. Tutors and students meet weekly at sites around the Valley for approximately 2 hours per week throughout the school year. Children grow both academically and socially as a result of the relationship with the volunteer tutor. Arizona Quest for Kids Year Established: 1998 Location: Currently there are programs based at 16 schools and 3 community sites in Phoenix, Tempe and Tucson. in the fifth grade and participate in the program until their
graduation from high school. Mentors are asked to commit for at least 1 year. Description of Program: Arizona Quest for Kids (AQFK) provides students with one-on-one mentoring, enrichment opportunities, and college guidance. Enrolled in the fifth grade, students are paired with a caring adult mentor who supports their academic and personal development. College and career-focused enrichment opportunities, field trips and community service activities are an integral part of the program. In addition, Arizona Quest for Kids provides educational workshops and resource referrals to families, as they support their child's pursuit of a college education.

Central Arizona (BBBSCAz) fosters positive friendships through
everyday magical experiences for local children and volunteers.
These dynamic friendships build character, strengthen integrity,
and promote personal responsibility in all we serve. BBBSCAz
is one of the top three affiliates of the 508 national agencies,
currently serving more than 1,600 Big and Little pairs. Since
1955, more that 25,000 children have been individually served.

Experience Corps Mesa - In partnership with Mesa Community College and Mesa Public Schools, Experience Corps Mesa recruits Boomers and Older Adults to mentor fourth graders on their reading and writing skills. Read to Me Schools - Read to Me Schools is a flexible program that brings caring adult volunteers into schools to help foster a love of reading in K-4 students. Boys Hope Girls Hope of Arizona Type of Mentoring Program: Community Based Duration of Program: 1 year Description of Program: Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH) provides bright youth who are motivated to accomplish goals in their life the opportunity to do so. Robotics Club Year Established: 1999 Location: School Duration of Program: 2 Months Description of Program: Our main purpose is to enter the US FIRST Robotics Competition. This competition provides a kit of parts out of which our students must build a robot in 6 weeks time. Our mentors are (mostly) engineering professionals from local corporations and they are expected to help us out Saturdays during the six-week build session. We pay for mentor's overnight accommodations and a couple of meals when we travel to competitions in California and Florida. Our club meets three times per week during the six-week build session so mentors are welcome to join us whenever their time permits. We also enter smaller-scale competitions throughout the year and we welcome any assistance that our mentors can provide. DUCK's mission is to help at-risk youth develop life skills which promote esteem-building personal relationships rooted in the love and hope of Christ, resulting in spiritual growth, academic improvement, and healthy, productive living. There is a Site Based program for children 5-12 years of age and a Community Based program for children 13-18 years of age. to expose abused, neglected, and homeless children to a consistent
mentor who offers the arts as a means of healing and building
trust with a caring adult. Intel Computer Clubhouse Year Established: 2002 Location: Community Center Duration of Program: 3 Months Description of Program: In the Clubhouse, youth (ages
10 -18) express themselves through projects based on their own
interests, creating computer-generated art and music, designing
their own animations, writing and illustrating interactive poetry,
building kinetic sculptures and robotic constructions, and designing
their own Web pages. Adult mentors serve as role models and support
the young people's self-directed explorations. In the process
youth become excited about learning and fluent with new technologies,
enabling them to develop skills useful in their future careers

in the community Description of Program: Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are citizens making significant contributions to the community by becoming actively involved in protecting the rights of abused, neglected, and abandoned children. Appointed by a juvenile court judge, CASA volunteers are specially trained to speak up independently, objectively, and passionately, on behalf of the vulnerable children who flow into the overburdened child protection system. CASA volunteers (mentors) research cases, assess facts, identify key problems, and submit court reports that summarize critical information. They attend court hearings, provide insight to the judge and recommend actions in the best interest of the children. Mentor Education Network

Community Center Description of Program: The Mentor Education Network focuses on the positive self-empowerment of African-American adolescent males. Areas of self improvement will include, but not be limited to, academic, career development, social and emotional skill development, and cultural competency. The program identifies African-American males who wish to serve as positive role models and mentors for young males. The program will engage young males in one-on-one and/or group mentoring sessions, structured lectures and activities designed to teach youth about the social factors that negatively and positively impact their development. Duration of Program:1 year Description of Program: MentorKids USA, formerly known as Phoenix MatchPoint, is a faith-based mentoring program, working in collaboration with churches, Christian organizations, and the Christian community to provide a caring adult to mentor vulnerable youth. The youth mentored range in age from 5 – 18. MentorKids USA recruits, trains, supports mentors, and provides camps, community events, and activities for mentors and mentees to participate in. MentorKids USA has served more than 500 kids, and has specifically focused on serving children of prisoners, and other vulnerable youth in the community. Our program provides another caring adult in the children's lives. Special Friends Mentoring Program Year Established: 1990 Location: In the community. Duration of Program: 6 Months Description of Program: The Parenting Arizona Special Friends Program matches adult mentors with youth 5-17 years old who live in group homes and shelters. These children do not have families or relatives who come to visit them, and are in need of a caring adult to act as a special friend and positive role model. Mentors take mentees out of the group home or shelter environment to enjoy fun activities. Mentors commit to 6 months, meeting with their mentee 2 times per month.

Pappas School Mentor/Volunteer Program matches adult mentors with homeless youth who attend the school. The goals of the mentor program are to provide positive adult/student interaction, reinforce the value of education, and develop life skills and self esteem. A resource center that provides educational/vocational assistance, job development services, and enhanced educational services for clients in Tumbleweed Programs. Youth Services - 1n10 Year Established: 1989 Location: Phoenix and Tempe Duration of Program: Varies Description of Program: 1n10 is the valley's only social services support agency serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning (LGBTQ) youth ages 14-22. 1n10 provides a safe adn supportive environment for youth to develop positive self-acceptance. Programs include educational topics, guest speakers, small group activities and large group social events. Washington Street Foundation Year Established: 1999 Location: In the community. Duration of Program: 96 Months Description of Program: We provide mentoring and scholarships to needy children with potential. $1000 is available annually to each student to aid in educational development.
