Type of Mentoring Program: Site Based
Location: Community Center
Duration of Program: 3 Months
Hours per Month: 8 Hours
Description of Program: In the Clubhouse,
youth (ages 6-18) express themselves through projects based on
their own interests, creating computer-generated art and music,
designing their own animations, writing and illustrating interactive
poetry, building kinetic sculptures and robotic constructions,
and designing their own Web pages. Adult mentors serve as role
models and support the young people's self-directed explorations.
In the process youth become excited about learning and fluent
with new technologies, enabling them to develop skills useful
in their future careers and, more generally, their lives.
