Description of Program: The Kids Learn FAAST program has been specifically designed to meet the unique needs of children in foster care. Description of Program: Tuesday Club - This program provides a critical building block in preparing children in the 1st grade for the adventure of learning to read. Senior adults read to children, helping to build the foundation necessary for the development of reading skills in a one-on-one environment. Grandma's House - This program engages 2nd grade students in a one-on-one craft activity and lunch with a senior adult to show them senior citizens are active, vital people and to help build friendships between generations.

Description of Program: Special Friends mentoring program matches adult minority male mentors with youth to guide and educate them in coping with at-risk situations due to their environment, peer or family pressures. The program is designed to increase self esteem, develop resilient temperament, improve educational attitude, prevent drug involvement, deter gang involvement, delay sexual activity and prevent premature parenting, and promote healthy behavior of mentees.
